THE OBJECT
ORO NERO is the black counterpart to CORDA NERA — the same violence, executed in gold. A stripped silhouette rebuilt in embroidered black canvas and armoured with several hundred conical studs, each set by hand from the toe to the collar.
THE MATERIALS
- Black embroidered Italian canvas
- Hand-set 24k-washed conical studs
- Gilded calfskin swoosh panel
- Engraved brass tongue plate
- Blackened rubber sole, hand-finished
THE PROCESS
The canvas is embroidered in Milano, then aged with a black wash and burnished back along the wear lines. Studs are set individually from the inside out, the swoosh panel is cut from gilded calfskin, and the tongue plate is engraved and pinned last. The sole is blackened and left unsealed.
