THE OBJECT
SCARLATTO is the loudest object in the archive. A scarlet melton crown carries a full storyboard in tonal black thread, and a spiked Cuban chain is sewn across the brim so the piece reads as jewellery before it reads as headwear.
THE MATERIALS
- Scarlet melton wool crown
- Tonal black storyboard embroidery
- Chenille LA mark, gold cone studs
- Gold spiked Cuban-link brim chain
THE PROCESS
The crown is embroidered panel by panel in tonal thread, then the chenille mark is applied and each gold cone stud is set by hand. The spiked chain is sized to the brim and stitched link by link so it never shifts.
