THE OBJECT

TERRACOTTA is the archive drawn rather than built. Every panel line of the original runner is re-drawn by hand in black ink, so the object reads as its own illustration — flattened, cartooned, then armoured in silver.

THE MATERIALS

  • White Italian leather and mesh upper
  • Hand-inked black outline work
  • Terracotta suede and ribbed panels
  • Silver conical lace spikes
  • Black waxed rope laces
  • Split grey and terracotta tread

THE PROCESS

The upper is stripped back to bare white, then outlined freehand in black paint pen along every seam and panel break. Terracotta suede is dyed to match the ribbed heel and swoosh, spikes are set through the top eyelets, and waxed rope replaces the factory lacing. The tread is masked and dyed in two tones.
