Giovanni has collected hardware for two decades: chain segments from Milanese markets, clasps from Roman jewellers closing after generations, cast fragments from Paris.
Each piece is cleaned, aged and catalogued. When an object needs a fastening, the drawer is opened and the search begins — the correct link already exists somewhere in it.
Because the supply is finite, some hardware appears once and never again. The drawer is the reason certain objects can never be recreated even if Giovanni wanted to.
“Six hundred reclaimed links. Three cities. One drawer.”
